When we change our home, new carpet, decoration etc it can have a cathartic effect on our mind, it's a bit like a spring clean or the car seems to feel & drive better when we've vacuumed it out. The biggest effect, generally speaking, is from a major re-modelling project of the home; for example, the kitchen. Now this can go both ways, the good and the bad, as a consumer you want to ensure it goes the right way and as the supplier of the goods and service we at Neall Alexanders will ensure we do exactly that.
This brings me to Neall Alexanders latest project for Simon & Margaret, the brief was precise, specific and accurate to the last detail from Simon & Margaret.
Scott presented three designs to arrive at the one actually chosen which met these specific requirements for ease of movement around the kitchen, sensible storage, to be totally functional and to look sensational.
This project had one other further criteria, it had to be fitted within a strict time frame to allow Simon to fit in a business trip to Singapore, start & finish times were critical, our schedule of works hovered on the four week window allocated to complete in its entirety.
If you think that's a long time to complete a project here is a list of what we undertook to do :-
Firstly all access floors and wall surfaces were covered and protected as there were no outer doors into the kitchen, this was undone every weekend and re done every Monday morning.
- Remove existing kitchen
- Remove existing electrics
- Remove existing Amtico ( of 20 years )
- Remove all decor surfaces ceiling |& walls
- Remove internal glazed window
- Various other preparation
- Dry lined and plastered most of kitchen walls.
- Installed new ring main and fuse board for independent supply to kitchen.
- Installed new controlled lighting scheme.
- Installed new contemporary chromed radiator.
- New glazed window.
- Reinforced existing ceiling.
- Screeded concrete floor in prep for Amtico.
- New skirting board.
- Completely decorated room, ceiling, walls, new woodwork.
- Altered plumbing to suite.
- Install new kitchen and appliances.
- Second fix electrics.
- Template for Corian.
- Install Corian.
- Template for unique glass splash backs and sills.
- Install glass.
- Install Amtico.
- Touch up decor.
- Clean up, move out, job complete, well almost............
- Incorrect door delivered from Italy, re-ordered at start of installing furniture, delivered within 5 days to our warehouse from Italy.

- Oh yes, I nearly forgot, we also supplied the glass table and chairs, so we moved them in and installed the new pendant light.
Simon & Margaret invested a great deal in Neall Alexanders, in many ways, and for me the most important was for them to put their absolute trust and faith in Neall Alexanders to enter the privacy of their home with respect and integrity and to complete their project exactly as we said we would; perfect and on time.
