This brings me to Neall Alexanders latest project for Simon & Margaret, the brief was precise, specific and accurate to the last detail from Simon & Margaret.

Scott presented three designs to arrive at the one actually chosen which met these specific requirements for ease of movement around the kitchen, sensible storage, to be totally functional and to look sensational.

This project had one other further criteria, it had to be fitted within a strict time frame to allow Simon to fit in a business trip to Singapore, start & finish times were critical, our schedule of works hovered on the four week window allocated to complete in its entirety.

This was an interesting project in so much as this was a very narrow kitchen with corners and doors just were you didn't want them, within a superb luxury house.

The challenge was to create a dinning area, a cooking area and a free flowing kitchen for a busy family.

Did neall alexanders meet this customers challenge, well they had been looking around for two years prior to giving neall alexanders the brief, you might say they'd had enough; you could, but not one other designer came up with the refreshing design ideas of utilising the space available in the huge garage and by building the tall housings into a recess we created, or designing the unique contemporary dinning area with a solid maple table.

The whole project was carried out & project managed by neall alexanders including the refurbishment of the original room, the structural works, tiling, flooring & lighting.

The customers did their own decoration.

This was a refurbishment project whereby we were asked to install the kitchen, appliances, solid oak worktops & glass upstands.

Notice the quality, wide planked oak some 40mm thick (not the 38mm short staves of varying colours).

The brief for this kitchen was to replace the existing layout, but be different. So we did.

Utilising the chimney recess as the cooking centre and to cleverly hide the extraction to the outside wall over an existing false much loved sapele ceiling.

The new ovens were built into tall units in a recess.

The centre piece with radius ends so as to avoid banging those hips on sharp corners.

The whole design gave a much more spacious feeling.

The installation took four weks including the painting on site.

This kitchen was fitted by neall alexanders for our customer in Misson near Bawtry, July 2009.

Mr & Mrs A were modernising this property themselves, so we were asked to provide the installation of the furniture only, which was completed in just over 2 days.

The brief was simple but exacting to create a fluid space with central cooking and extraction, together with dinning / seating area.

Most importantly; to keep within a strict budget in view of all the other works.

The kitchen you can see is as we left it, immaculately cleaned and ready to use, albeit the client as opted to do work around the tall housing himself.

When we change our home, new carpet, decoration etc it can have a cathartic effect on our mind, it's a bit like a spring clean or the car seems to feel & drive better when we've vacuumed it out. The biggest effect, generally speaking, is from a major re-modelling project of the home; for example, the kitchen. Now this can go both ways, the good and the bad, as a consumer you want to ensure it goes the right way and as the supplier of the goods and service we at Neall Alexanders will ensure we do exactly that.

Firstly all access floors and wall surfaces were covered and protected as there were no outer doors into the kitchen, this was undone every weekend and re done every Monday morning.

1. Remove existing kitchen
2. Remove existing electrics
3. Remove existing Amtico ( of 20 years )
4. Remove all decor surfaces ceiling |& walls
5. Remove internal glazed window
6. Various other preparation
   

Now here is what we carried out :-

1. Dry lined and plastered most of kitchen walls.
   
2. Installed new ring main and fuse board for independent supply to kitchen.
3. Installed new controlled lighting scheme.
4. Installed new contemporary chromed radiator.
5. New glazed window.
6. Reinforced existing ceiling.
7. Screeded concrete floor in prep for Amtico.
8. New skirting board.
   
9. Completely decorated room, ceiling, walls, new woodwork.
10. Altered plumbing to suite.
11. Install new kitchen and appliances.
12. Second fix electrics.
    
13. Template for Corian.
    
14. Install Corian.
15. Template for unique glass splash backs and sills.
16. Install glass.
17. Install Amtico.
18. Touch up decor.
19. Clean up, move out, job complete, well almost............
    
20. Incorrect door delivered from Italy, re-ordered at start of installing furniture, delivered within 5 days to our warehouse from Italy.
21. We have one more thing to return to site for, to change the tap ( see our post : quality and Neall Alexanders)
22. Oh yes, I nearly forgot, we also supplied the glass table and chairs, so we moved them in and installed the new pendant light.
    

Simon & Margaret invested a great deal in Neall Alexanders, in many ways, and for me the most important was for them to put their absolute trust and faith in Neall Alexanders to enter the privacy of their home with respect and integrity and to complete their project exactly as we said we would; perfect and on time.
